KPS Charity Golf Tournament to
benefit local community organizations

KPS Health Plans’ Charitable Giving Team is sponsoring its 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Sept. 25 at McCormick Woods. A casual buffet-style dinner will follow the event.

The event, which is a 4-person scramble format, will benefit local charity organizations, including Kit sap United Way, Kitsap March of Dimes Walk-of America, YWCA Alive Shelter, Harrison Hospital and the regional Food Banks, Port Orchard, Fish Line in Poulsbo, Belfair, Bremerton and Central Kitsap Food Bank.

Major sponsors include McCormick Woods Golf Course, Port Orchard; Evergreen Horizons Asset Management, Gig Harbor; Moss Adams LLP, Certified Public Accountants and Business Advisors, Tacoma; and Sungard Workflow Solutions, Birmingham, AL. 2003 gift donors are: Gig Harbor Kayak Center, Gig Harbor; The Inn at Gig Harbor; MultiPlan, Fort Worth, TX; Paul’s Flowers, Bremerton; Potlatch Gallery, Poulsbo; and SeaTac Mall.

There are a number of participation opportunities including as a golfer at $100 per person, sponsoring a hole, and/or making an in-kind donation of merchandise or gift certificates for prizes or give-aways. Hole sponsors have their company name and logo posted at an assigned golf hole, and all sponsors and donations are noted on the KPS website, in the KPS employee newsletter, and at customer service counters.

The employees of KPS Health Plans formed the Charitable Giving Committee in 2002. A team of employees review and respond to requests received by KPS for charitable contributions. The Fund is used to support a variety of activities, including a year-round food drive, contributions to programs such as the March of Dimes and the YMCA, and to support a Secret Santa program for the ALIVE shelter and local nursing homes. The Fund is also used to sponsor a tree display for Harrison Hospital Foundation’s annual Festival of Trees fundraiser.

These activities are made possible entirely through employee contributions and fundraisers. The annual golf tournament is KPS’ largest fundraiser.
