Kitsap Credit Union announces
new building in Bremerton

Bremerton’s downtown revitalization got it’s second big boost from the private sector when Kitsap Credit Union (KCU) announced plans to build a $9.5 million, 52,000 square foot corporate office complex in downtown Bremerton. The building will serve as a corporate headquarters for the credit union as well as offer rental space. Windermere Real Estate recently moved into its new downtown Bremerton office — the first new office building to be constructed downtown in nearly half a century.

U.S. Representative Norm Dicks, and Bremerton Mayor Cary Bozeman were both on hand to congratulate Elliott Gregg, President and CEO of KCU, along with several board members, for their vision and commitment to the city.

Kitsap Credit Union, founded in 1934 in the shipyard as the Navy Metal Trades Credit Union, has been part of the community for nearly 70 years and is the largest credit union in this area.

The Bremerton architectural firm of Rice Fergus Miller was selected to design the project and Opus Northwest, the same firm building the hotel and convention center, is the general contractor.

The complex will be built at 2nd and Washington, across from the hotel and convention center, and will include a stand-alone, 4,000 square foot branch office and a Kitsap Transit “kiss and ride” area. Construction is set to begin in spring of 2004 and completed by 2005. Bradley Scott Commercial Real Estate will be the leasing agent.
