Kitsap County firm lands USS Abraham Lincoln
fast-ferry contract

Pacific Navigation Company has secured a high-profile contract to provide the United States Navy passenger ferry service between Everett and Bremerton.

Ferry service will be provided to the crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln, the Everett-based carrier that recently returned from an extended overseas deployment in the Persian Gulf. The ferry service began on June 24 and will continue for about 11 months while the Lincoln is being overhauled in Bremerton.

“We are proud to provide this service to the men and women of the USS Abraham Lincoln, this is a real honor for us” said company President Greg Dronkert. “The fact that we are a small local company operating one of the largest passenger ferries on Puget Sound for such a respected client makes this a very special contract for us.”

Pacific Navigation Company manages and operates vessels for various clients, who have chosen to outsource this expertise.

Formed in 2000, the firm has grown to over 30 employees with it main office on Bainbridge Island, and branches in Tacoma, Seattle and Juneau, Alaska. Dronkert was the director of Alaska’s state ferry system before starting a consulting business that eventually became Pacific Navigation Company.
