The Urban County Caucus of the Washington Association of Counties (WASC) named Kitsap County Commissioner Chris Endresen to represent the states urban counties at the 15-state, Western Interstate Region of the National Association of Counties.
Commissioner Endresen was chosen by the caucus based on her active and informed performance at the state level, and because she has an excellent grasp on urban issues, like transportation, said Bill Vogler, executive director of the WASC. She has a broad view of urban issues, regardless of the size of the county.
The caucus is made up of Washingtons most densely populated counties, including King, Pierce, Snohomish and others.
The Western Interstate Region expanded its membership to include an additional member. As a result of this decision and the selection by the WSAC, Endresen will join the region as an advocate for public policy issues that preserve a traditional Western way of life.
Endresens experience in transportation and environmental issues enables her to focus attention on Kitsap County needs on a state and national level.
It is extremely important our voice is heard, Endresen said. As the urban county representative from Washington State, Kitsap has a front row seat in the national policy setting arena.. |
