High tea for low economy

The Rose Bed and Breakfast in Gig Harbor has adapted to the changing economy. Business at the Rose has been off about 22 percent since the September 11 attacks.

Last year the Rose added a tea room to the main floor of the old house along the Gig Harbor.

Since the opening of the Tea Room revenue has increased about 20 percent. Overnight guests from out of state have declined nearly 36 percent, in-state guests have grown by 14 percent. Most in-state guests are traveling 100 miles or less to reach their destination, Gig Harbor.
