Port Orchard Rotary’s
Annual Crab Feed & Auction set for May 10

The date for the annual Port Orchard Rotary Crab Feed and Auction, one of South Kitsap’s favorite traditional community events, has been set for May 10. The event will take place in the gym at Olympic Gym and Racquet Club at the top of Mile Hill Drive.

There will be both a silent and verbal auction, and as usual, Stoke’s Auction Service will handle the sale of donated items at the verbal auction.

Proceeds from the event will be used for funding a myriad of community projects and services, including seed money for a Sept. 11 memorial the club plans to build in Port Orchard’s roundabout. Rotary has landscaped and maintained the roundabout grounds since it was first constructed several years ago.

Part of the money raised from previous auctions, $30,000, was recently awarded as a community project grant to fund the construction of restroom facilities and a concession stand at Joe Knowles Field at South Kitsap High School. An additional $7,100 was donated to the Sidney Museum’s restoration project.

Previous auctions have raised money to help fund the Maynard Lundburg and Lee Belas Foundations, an ongoing salmon enhancement project at Blackjack Creek and numerous other community projects.

For information, tickets, or to donate an item, call 360-871-3823 or contact any Port Orchard Rotarian.
