Former county commissioner Tim Botkin has opened Sustainable Solutions, a consulting firm that specializes in advising clients about sustainable land use solutions and practices, as well as community planning, mediation alternatives, group facilitation, and legislative consultation. Prior to becoming county commissioner, Botkin was an attorney and later served as the countys hearing examiner for several years.
His new firm will help clients navigate the legal processes involved in development and redevelopment, with an eye towards protection of natural environmental systems while addressing the related issues of transportation and infrastucture, economic development, community input, and developing plans that work well and are broadly supported.
Since mediation usually offers far more latitude than legal options, Botkin also intends to use his legal and mediation experience to help clients resolve land use conflicts outside of the courtroom. It will be his goal to customize workable solutions that are based on needs and solving problems, rather than limited to addressing rights.
He also will use the experience gained in the political arena to help governmental clients work through the complex legal maze they face in dealing with compliance issues and the ever-increasing level of public scrutiny. He will be available to help other clients navigate the processes outlined by government to assure full compliance.
