SARS, Inc. signs contract
with Bremerton’s NW Commnet

NW Commnet recently announced that Secure Asset Reporting Services, Inc. (SARS), an Anchorage, Alaska based asset tracking security company has signed a long-term contract for collocation in the NW Commnet collocation facility in downtown Bremerton.

SARS provides real time tracking of mobile assets, including aircraft and ships. The information is displayed on a website (www.sarsinc.com) that is accessible by the customer. SARS is working with other companies and agencies in homeland security using their system of satellite tracking and website reporting.

SARS was developed in Alaska as a tracking system for marine vessels in remote regions. The immediate success of the program inspired several unique applications of the system. After devising a simple means of using vessel-tracking technology to monitor remote fuel storage, it became apparent that the SARS system could be used for an ever-expanding range of services.

Today, a customizable interface provides access to anybody, anywhere on Earth. Anyone who knows how to operate a PC can use this service, and the hardware costs less than a laptop.

SARS has installed several servers in the facility and is also obtaining internet access from NW Commnet. The facility consists of conditioned, secure space with emergency backup power and substantial HVAC capacity for cooling sensitive equipment. The firm permits “meet-me” facilities for telecommunications companies to cross-connect services, as well as facilities to host equipment such as servers, routers, and other electronic equipment.
