Liberty Tax Service has announced a new scholarship opportunity for local high school seniors.

The scholarship is a $500 non-renewable written essay competition open to graduating seniors enrolled in Kitsap County public or private schools. Qualifying essays will be judged by a five-member panel of literary and educational professionals.

Applicants should choose from one of the following as a title for their essay: What does liberty mean to me?; How might I carry the torch of liberty?; Liberty, then and now- How did 9/11 change my views?

Deadline for submission is April 15, 2003. Applications and guidelines are available at any of the convenient Liberty Tax Service offices in Kitsap County, or by calling Janet Mayberry at 360-876-1040.
