City of Bremerton launches new Web site

In an effort to get more information about the City, its people and projects to the public, the City of Bremerton has launched a totally redesigned Web site.

The site, www.ci.bremerton.wa.us, went live on Jan. 3 and replaced an existing site. Over four months, Sungrafx of Silverdale partnered with the city for graphic design, web development and advertising.

“We’re thrilled with the Web site’s look, information-rich content, and ease of use,” Mayor Cary Bozeman said. “Much like the City itself, this is one of many improvements we’re making each day.”

The home page of the site features a “Message from the Mayor” and links to major reports, which outline the mayor’s top priority projects. The main navigation consists of four links: Government, Business, Community, and Visiting. Other topical home pages sections include: Latest News, Redevelopment, Community Services and quick links.

Additional sub links include events, announcements, city contacts, weather, ferry schedules, bus schedules and maps. A second phase of work is planned for the Web site. Phase II will allow City personnel to make site updates with out any prior HTML coding knowledge. A Sungrafx developed database will allow for automatic picture placement and resizing as well as article/content updates.

This phase will also feature interactive features including automatic surveys and e-mail news updates for citizens who opt in. These features will allow city administrators to provide information directly to citizens as well as receive direct feedback from citizens.

A real-time opinion poll regarding city issues will also appear on the home page. For more information, contact Chief of Staff Sherril Huff-Menees at (360) 478-5268.
