Bozeman outlines his priorities for city in 2003

Bremerton Mayor Cary Bozeman recently released his list of Top Priorities for this year. They are:

Top Priorities

  • Complete the permitting on the Conference Center so construction can begin in March.
  • Complete the permitting on the Government Center and begin construction in March.
  • Sign an agreement with a developer to plan and design the Eastpark community.
  • Work with all our partners and Kitsap Transit to assure the continued passenger only ferry service.
  • Purchase the US Bank building and complete design of our new Municipal Court and Public Safety Building.
  • Purchase property for our new downtown Fire Station and complete architectural design of the building.
  • Complete engineering and design work on the ferry tunnel under Pacific Avenue.
  • Complete design and permitting of the Phase One of the new downtown waterfront condominiums.
  • Work with the Navy and the shipyard to begin development of their new downtown parking garage, and their terrorist protection project on Pacific Avenue.
  • Work with the Bremerton Housing Authority to see that the redevelopment planning and design work for Westpark is completed in 2003.

Important Priorities

  • Work with the Bremerton School District on finding a site for the new Bremerton Middle School.
  • Improve communications and coordination with the City Council.
  • Secure funding for the refurbishment of Building 50, which will house our new Naval Museum on the Maritime Park.
  • Develop a Youth Commission to begin addressing the needs of young people in our City.
  • Organize and hold a “Bremerton Night” in Olympia for all members of the State Legislature.
  • Sign agreement for bringing a multiplex movie theater to downtown.
