Twiss Analytical Laboratories, the only private certified analytical laboratory on the Kitsap Peninsula that is certified by the Washington State Department of Health and accredited by the Washington State Department of Ecology, recently expanded its facilities in Poulsbo’s Twelve Trees Business Park.

Personnel changes have also taken place recently with Nancy Parrott being promoted to Laboratory Manager. She is responsible for the day to day operation of the laboratory. Tom Mazairz joined the company in July in the microbilogy section and is heading up the expansion into organic chemical testing. Beth Ross came on board in September as a laboratory helper.

President Steve Twiss stated that the larger facility will allow the company to expand into organic chemical testing, reduce the turn around time that can be critical in the environmental arena, and reduce costs for the firm’s clients.

In November the laboratory received accreditation for Oil and Grease/Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) analysis by EPA Method 1664 through the Washington Department of Ecology. In 2003 the company plans to purchase instrumentation that will test for volatile and semi volatile organics.
