At the regular board meeting of the Bremerton Naval Museum, former Bremerton Mayor Gene Nelson was elected to its board of directors.

Charleen Zettl, museum director, said Gene Nelson’s involvement in the many historical activities in the community will be a “tremendous asset” to the museum’s future move to its new location on the Bremerton waterfront in historic Building 50.

Nelson, who for years owned Pacific Creative Advertising, recently finished publishing the Bremerton Fire Department Centennial book, and is also working with the exploration committee on a feasibility study for a potential fire department museum in the old Fire Station #1 when it becomes available.
