KPS Health Plans successfully completed negotiations with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to renew its contract for the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program in 2003.

Since 1967, KPS has contracted with the OPM to deliver benefits to full-time civilian employees and retirees of the federal government as well as postal service employees

New benefits were added for the upcoming year. The Standard Option product will have a $20 co-payment for office visits with no deductible required. The dental benefits will be paid-in-full on an indemnity fee schedule. The total benefit package includes medical, hospital, prescription drugs and, for those on Standard Option, dental benefits.

The period for enrollment changes in the federal program is called Open Season. This year’s Open Season began Nov. 11 and runs until Dec. 9. During Open Season, eligible participants can change health benefit programs to any one of the many participating plans in their area.
