Two local talents, Jeanie Schulze and Ted Farmer, were recently recognized as “Friends of the Navy” in appreciation of their service and dedication to military personnel in the area.

The ceremony was recently held in conjunction with the Change of Command for the Commander, Navy Region Northwest.

Gov. Gary Locke, Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels and the chair of SeaFair, were similarly recognized by the Department of the Navy.

Schulze and Farmer both received certificates of appreciation and flags from Rear Admiral Vinson E. Smith. Schulze works with the Central Kitsap School District and was involved in a trip to Kings Bay to welcome transferring families as well as other projects. Farmer owns Heads Up Brewing and is chair of the Silverdale Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee.
