Kitsap County officials participate in China goodwill mission

Port of Bremerton officials went to the Peoples Republic of China last month to help put Kitsap County on the international trade map.

Port Commissioners Cheryl Kincer, Bill Mahan and Mary Ann Huntington, accompanied Lt. Governor Brad Owen and other officials for the 16-day trip.

During their trip the delegation established the port’s first international sister port relationship with the Port of Yan Tai in Shandong province.

Lt. Governor Owen also commemorated the 20th anniversary of Washington sister-state relationship with Sichuan Province.

Port of Tacoma officials and Port of Bremerton CEO Ken Attebery and Kitsap County Commissioner Jan Angel traveled with the group.

“My goal is to begin the development of relationships that will result in new internationally-based jobs in Kitsap County, particularly in the South Kitsap industrial area including the port’s airport and industrial park,” Angel said.
