In August the Gig Harbor City Council passed Resolution No. 594, which reads; A resolution of the City of Gig Harbor to promote the implementation of a voluntary smoke-free environment policy in all establishments.
The resolution gives the city the opportunity to applaud those establishments who have instituted a voluntary smoke-free environment, and to promote the implementation of a voluntary smoke-free environment policy in all establishments.
The City Visitor Services office is partnering win the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department on a Fresh Air Gig Harbor marketing campaign.
The campaign launches in the November issue of AAA Journey Magazine and Northwest Travel Magazine. In addition, well known local photographer Louie Labayen has donated the use of one of his photos to be used in a commemorative postcard, which will include a 15-percent discount at participating businesses listed:
Le Bistro, Tides Tavern, Harbor Inn Restaurant, The Rose Tea Room, Spiros Pizza & Pasta, Harbor Rock Café, The Heritage Restaurant, Judson Street Café, The Rose of Gig Harbor, The Maritime Inn, Waterfront Inn, and Rosedale by the Bay.
The Maritime City logo, has been modified, dropping the word Washington and adding The Maritime City, to reflect Gig Harbors maritime heritage. The logo has previously only been used for tourism related items, but now is being incorporated through out the community.
