Candyland Jubilee is the theme for the 16th annual Festival of Trees, a community holiday celebration coordinated by Harrison Hospital Foundation to benefit healthcare services at Harrison Hospital. This years proceeds will benefit the Cardiac Service Project. To date, $1,452,645 has been netted from this event.
The Festival is scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend, Friday to Sunday, Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1 at the Kitsap Pavilion and Presidents Hall.
There will be a fantastic display of 39 beautifully decorated Christmas trees, each with a unique theme and decorations, many with valuable items under the tree. The trees are sponsored by area businesses and individuals, and sold at the Gala Tree Party and Auction.
In addition to the large Christmas trees, there are several other displays. New this year is Holiday Yard Art. Over 40 individuals and businesses have donated items from birdhouses to metal outdoor décor to whimsical snowmen and more for this display. Also new this year is Gingerbreads and More a collection of any holiday item having to do with gingerbread, and Quilted Holiday Wall-hangings which will be a display of creative quilted pieces.
The Holiday Mini Tree display boasts over 40 entries. Handmade holiday décor items as well as 40 holiday wreaths will be on display. There will be Gift Baskets again this year and another new display is Holiday Cookie Jars, with cookies inside. Holiday Bears, sponsored by Westsound Bank will display 36 teddy bears wearing festive holiday outfits and many come with clever accessories. All items will be on display with a sign recognizing the donor and for sale at the event.
Another display is the Celebrate the Children Trees. Three trees covered with hundreds of new stuffed animals and childrens books, which are all donated by individuals, clubs and businesses in Kitsap. The items on this trees will be given to Harrison Hospitals Emergency Rooms Urgent Care and the SANE Program where they are given to children in emergency situations.
There were will be lots of activities held in the Presidents hall for children. Santa will be there with photos available. Cookie decorating, paper holiday crafts, puppet shows and many more. The Jingle Belly Shop for kids only will be open again this year. Kids can shop for Mom, Dad, sis and brother, teacher and pets too, and all gifts are under $5. There will be high school escorts to take them through the shop and assist them in selecting their gifts.
The Santa Breakfast, will be Nov. 30 at 8:30 a.m. for 400 guests. Tickets are $10 per seat and are for sale at the Kitsap Mall Information Booth.
Kids Day is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 29. All kids 12 years and under are in free all day. There will be free surprises at the door.
Friday nights special evening Party Among the Trees is a classy affair for 550 guests. Cold Shot will provide dance tunes. Tickets are $35 and each guest will receive a complimentary wine glass.
The Gala Tree Party and Auction will be held on Saturday evening, Nov. 30. Tickets are $90 for this event and available by calling the Foundation office at (360) 792-6760. There will be an auction for the beautiful trees plus trips, jewelry, sporting events, art and more. Dinner will be a five-course affair with a surprise desert. Complimentary wine glasses will be given to each guest.
Holiday Craft vendors will have their wares on display and for sale during general admission hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will be a Festival Raffle of great items. Tickets are $1 and the drawing will be held Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. |
