Bainbridge Performing Arts recently added John Ellis to its Board of Trustees. He previously served a three-year term on the BPA Board.

Theater has engaged Ellis’ interest throughout his life, and he appeared on stage most recently in BPA’s 2001 production of Guys & Dolls. He is also part of the HA! Comedy Improv team

Ultimately, Ellis hopes to increase the “need” for The Playhouse on the Island, interweaving it as an essential part of the fabric of Island life, rather than an aside for the few. He says, “to do that, we have to get better and better at what we do everyday. And we are.”

When not on stage or in the boardroom, Ellis works as a shipbroker, arranging cargo for ships.
