A. Phimister Proctor spent most of his life creating statues throughout the United States. His works of art celebrate both famous heroes and anonymous, iconic figures from Americas past. Now the A. Phimister Proctor Museum in Poulsbo is proud to host an exhibition that connects the rich legacy of outdoor sculpture to our nations historical consciousness.
Preserving Memory: Americas Monumental Legacy arrives at an important time in our own history. It presents an opportunity to reflect on the role of outdoor sculpture in commemorating our triumphs and tragedies.
The exhibition was created by Save our Outdoor Sculpture, a joint program of Heritage Preservation and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
It was made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities and locally, Kitsap Bank and Liberty Bay Auto Center for their generous support.
The A. Phimister Proctor Museum is located at 20201 Front Street NE, in Poulsbo. The show continues every Thurs.-Sat. through Nov. 2. |
