The West Sound Service Center of the American Red Cross will be hosting its 4th Annual Real Heroes Breakfast on December 10, and is now accepting nominations for real heroes in Kitsap and north Mason counties.
The Red Cross is looking for heroes in the following ten categories: Adult Good Samaritan, Youth Good Samaritan, Fire, Medical, Public Safety, Nature or Water Rescue, Industrial, Military, Education, and Animal Rescue.
A West Sound Heroes Selection Committee, chaired by Barbara Stephenson, Executive Director of United Way of Kitsap County, will be reviewing the nominations. Also participating on the committee are Sheriff Steve Boyer; Chief Jim Shields, Fire District #18; Mike Levi, Publisher of The Sun; Captain Steve Kramer, Commanding Officer, Naval Station Bremerton; Dr. Elizabeth Hyde, Superintendent of the Bremerton School District; and Don Thornton, Director of General Services for Harrison Memorial Hospital.

The Real Heroes Breakfast celebrates the spirit of humanitarianism by honoring individuals who have shown courage, kindness, and unselfish character by their acts of heroism in the Kitsap and north Mason communities. All proceeds will be used locally to support the programs of the American Red Cross West Sound Service Center.
