Open House at The Playhouse August 3

Bainbridge Performing Arts will host an Open House Saturday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Playhouse. The public is invited for a tour of the facility including a first hand look at set-construction in progress, a costume display in the costume shop, a BPA historical spotlight, and brochures highlighting upcoming events in 2002-2003, plus two free drawings.

Winners of the first drawing receive two free tickets to the Aug. 3 performance of HA! Comedy Improv! that evening.

Winners of the second drawing receive two free tickets to The Rimers of Eldritch running Aug. 9 to 17. Part murder mystery, part poetic drama, The Rimers of Eldritch is the first in BPA’s new Adult Contemporary Theatre Series.

BPA’s new Director of Operations, Per Sherwin, is excited about the opportunity to showcase The Playhouse, saying, “Few people realize how extensive the behind-the-scenes work is for each production.”

He hopes the Open House will give patrons an inside appreciation of both the quality of the community performing arts center and the remarkable level of volunteerism behind each production.

“Besides, this is a great way to take advantage of the festive atmosphere inspired by the Saturday Bainbridge Island Farmer’s Market in front of our facilit,” he said. “We wanted to extend the festivities and further our goal of celebrating the arts with the community.”

A non-profit, community based organization founded in 1956, BPA presented 126 events last year, entertaining more than 13,000 patrons. The Playhouse, home of Bainbridge Performing Arts, is located at 200 Madison Avenue North, on Bainbridge Island

Event tickets are available at The Playhouse, box office, or they may be charged by phone at (206) 842-8569.

Box Office hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and one hour prior to each performance.
