Now in its ninth year, South Sounds is a tradition for Tacoma and the region, showcasing the work of artists in the South Puget Sound region. The event is open to artists over 18 years of age, residing in Kitsap, Mason, Pierce, and/or Thurston Counties.
Works in all media, including drawing, electronic media, installation, metalwork, mixed media, painting, performance, printmaking, photography, sculpture, jewelry, and video, will be considered. All work must be original and produced within the last three years. Of special interest is innovative video for Commencement Art Gallerys Video Room.
Submissions will be judged by Tara Young, assistant curator of modern and contemporary art at the Seattle Art Museum.
Artists may submit up to 5 slides or videos. Submissions must represent work that is available to show. Substitutions will not be accepted. The juror may disqualify any accepted work that is inconsistent with the slide or video. All accepted work must be ready for installation upon arrival or the artist must be available to install. Artists may submit a combination of slides and video.
