Oke wins backing of labor and law enforcement

Sen. Bob Oke, (R-26th District), who is seeking his fourth term in the Washington State Senate, has been winning wide support for his re-election bid and has picked up a number of key endorsements including some from labor and law enforcement groups.

His endorsements include:
• Washington State Patrol Troopers Association
• Washington Council of Police & Sheriffs
• International Union of Operating Engineer’s (five locals)
• Washington State Farm Bureau
• Kitsap County Fire Commissioners Association
• Kitsap County Fire Chiefs Association, Inc.
• Washington State Association of Fire Chiefs
• Washington State Veterinary Medical Association
• Human Life Political Action Committee

Oke credits the endorsements to his work as a senator on common sense issues, like jobs, public safety and strong families.

“For twelve years, I’ve tried to address the issues critical to my district and the state as a whole,” he said. “The ‘big picture’ is important to the success of our society, from the family unit to the economy. It’s a puzzle that fits together only if all the pieces are given the attention they deserve. People care about a lot of issues and a good legislator has to devote some time to all of them.”

Oke is being challenged by Gig Harbor Democrat Betty Ringlee.
