The North Kitsap School District recently announced the hiring of three people to fill vacancies in the district.
Lani Powell has been named as Director of Human Resources (HR) for the district. She was previously manager of compensation and classified professional development and has held several other HR positions with Tacoma Public Schools since 1993.
Powell holds an M.S. in human resources from Chapman University and a B.S. in workforce education and development from Southern Illinois University. She is a certified senior professional in human resources and a certified mediator practitioner with Pierce County Center for Dispute Resolution.
Powell has also served as a member of the adjunct faculty of Chapman University at McChord Air Force Base and worked in professional development with Tacoma Community Schools, Tacoma Public Schools and Bates Technical College.
She replaces Denise Zaske who accepted the director of HR position with the Bremerton School District earlier this year.
Chris Case, former editor of the North Kitsap Herald, is the new communications and community relations coordinator for the district. Prior to signing on with the Herald, she served as interim communications director and communications specialist with the Seattle School District where she worked with the late Superintendent John Stanford from 1996 to 1998
She was also a partner in an area marketing consulting firm, Case & Case, for 10 years, and also worked with JWT and Bayer Bess, Spielvogel advertising agencies in Chicago. Case holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism from the University of Wyoming.
Nancy Moffatt will serve as the new director of finance and operations. Before coming to North Kitsap, Moffatt worked with Bethel Public Schools as assistant superintendent of finance and operations. She also served as director of planning for the North Thurston School District and holds a Master of Education Degree in Education Administration from Seattle University and is currently enrolled in the Program Education Leadership Doctoral Program at Washington State University. |
