Bainbridge Island-based TimberGrass LLC has embarked on a $2 million private placement offering through Moss Adams Capital. The company, which is experiencing rapid growth due to its unique bamboo flooring product, has also found another ubiquitous market niche — supplying bamboo panels and veneers to furniture and cabinet makers.

Bamboo, which has many of the same qualities found in hardwood timber, is a sustainable product that takes only a couple of growing seasons to replenish itself instead of the decades trees do.

Utilizing 10 flooring distributors, the company now is marketing in 25 states with distribution currently being developed in the rest of the country. TimberGrass LLC expects to hire an additional five people over the next few months to handle the increased volume.
