Little & Lewis: New Work 2002 at BAC
One of many Jim Laser photos that will be on display
For July, Bainbridge Arts and Crafts (BAC) presents The Spirited Garden: sculpture by Sandy Lew-Mailer and Pastels by Jean Martin. The featured retail artist is Masako Guidry who will display Washi paper and metal jewelry.
There will be a reception for the artists on Friday, July 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. and a gallery talk by the artists on Saturday, July 6, at 2 p.m.
During August, Cocos nucifera — a new look in the Little and Lewis repertoire of Mediterranean-style columns will be featured. These wed tropical luxuriance and classical stateliness in a single concrete pillar designed to give a sense of timelessness and equatorial luxuriance to the garden.
Inspired by a recent sojourn into Central America, George Little and David Lewis renew and refine their concrete nature sculptures, fountains, mirrors, and “wall fragments” in New Work 2002 at Bainbridge Arts & Crafts in August.

Colorful blossoms, natural foliage, succulent fruit, and calming water elements in bas relief, tinted by layers of color washes, turn light-weight concrete mirrors and “wall fragments” into miniature gardens for interior spaces or capture scenes of out-of-the way places and times long past, like fragments of ancient frescoes.
What appear to be larger-than-life natural sculptures are cast from actual life-sized Northwest leaves. Many sculptures, fountains, planters, and garden pools incorporate classical, folk, Mediterranean, and American Southwestern elements.
Little and Lewis similarly mesh their personal interests and respective expertise. Little has been a sculptor and watercolorist for more than 30 years. Lewis is an accomplished archeological illustrator. Their interests in the artifacts of the past, “both Old and New World,” their artistic creativity, and their mutual passion for tropical gardening in the temperate north translate into 10 years of distinctive works of art.
Also showing in August at BAC are the photographs of Jim Laser, with the
Featured Retail Artist being David Weinstock and his fine custom jewelry.
