New fabric shop opens on Bainbridge
Island Textiles is a new Bainbridge Island fabric shop that recently opened at 937 Hildebrand Lane, in Suite 103.

Owned by Maja Stone and Deana Gutherie, the shop offers a complete selection of notions and all the other basics any fabric shop should, as well as a more upscale and trendy stock — and of course, the classics. The shop also specializes in the interchangeable, and is able to custom order anything.

“We decided Bainbridge Island was growing so rapidly there was room for another fabric store,” said Stone. “We intend to compliment the other fabric store already here.”

The pair, who both sew and each have their own cutting tables in the new shop, actually worked together in the other store. “We would talk about what we’d do if we ever had a shop,” laughed Gutherie. “We’re very organized.”

Gutherie said they will do simple alterations for the people in the Madison Avenue Retirement home as well. “We want to be as active in the community as possible.”

Watch for the interestingabd creative classes the shop will soon be offering to Bainbridge and North Kitsap.
