Kitsap Mall recently saw one store, close, another open and two more are scheduled to have their doors open by August.
B. Dalton Booksellers, which is owned by Barnes & Noble, closed its mall location at the end of May. The company has embarked on a strategy of closing B. Dalton locations in regional malls and consolidating in the big-box Barnes & Noble stores that are usually in close proximity to the same malls.
T-Mobile, a wireless telecommunications service provider that is opening several stores in the Northwest, will take over the B. Dalton location.
Kitchen & Company, a gourmet kitchen specialty store, is slated to open in late July.
Candy Tyme, which sells candies by the pound, opened May 16 in the former Sweet Factory location. Candy Tyme, also notes that its products are of better quality and priced lower than the former tenant.
At North Point, the shopping center on Randall Way across the street from the mall, saw the opening of Party City on May 15. Both Kitsap Mall and North Point are owned by the Macerich Company.
Rockaway, New Jersey-based Party City offers a variety of party supplies, including costumes, invitations, party favors, balloons, tableware, greeting cards and gift wrap at everyday discounts of up to 50 percent off manufacturers suggested retail pricing. The company operates 204 company-owned stores and about 244 franchise stores in the U.S.
