Kitsap County Auditor Karen Flynn recently announced that the county has received the highest available form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting for the fourth consecutive year.

A Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Chicago-based Government Finance Officers National Association was awarded to the county for its preparation of the comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

“The attainment of this award represents a significant accomplishment by Kitsap County and its management,” said Stephen Gauthier, spokesperson for the GFOA. “Having satisfied the high standards of this program, Kitsap County provides an outstanding example for other government agencies to follow as an appropriate standard of excellence in financial reporting.”

The report is prepared by Flynn’s office. Flynn praised the efforts and quality work of Ademola A. Ariwoola, financial services manager for Kitsap County, who directly supervised the preparation of the report, and his staff.

“Producing quality financial documents is the culmination of the year-long effort to properly maintain records and accurately reflect the financial health of the organization,” said Flynn. “The recognition we’ve received for this document is an indicator of the quality and professionalism of this staff’s overall effort. I’m very proud of them.”.
