Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce President Todd Tidball recently announced of the winners of the prestigious awards given each year by the Chamber in recognition of outstanding contributions to the community.
Brent Stenman, Vice President at Frontier Bank was named the Chambers 2001-2002 Person of the Year. This award was given in acknowledgement of his unparalleled involvement with the youth of the Poulsbo area through his support and leadership with Babe Ruth Baseball, North Kitsaps ball fields, and regional tournament hosting. Stenman has spent untold hours in a full spectrum of roles with a number of youth baseball organizations in Poulsbo and North Kitsap.
Four Business Beautification Awards were also presented this year to businesses that have contributed to the enhancement of Poulsbos image through new or updated buildings or grounds.
The recipients were Poulsbo Place for the award winning development on Jensen Way that once was the site of former government housing structures; Hall & Company for its new building on 10th Avenue; Pacific Optical of Poulsbo for the new Eye Care and Surgery Center on Bond Road; and Finn Hill Java for its conversion of a former residential building into a colorful new business on Finn Hill.
The Chamber also announced the recipients of the Community Builder Awards. Ed Stern was recognized for his tireless efforts on behalf of the Poulsbo Olympic College campus and economic development in Poulsbo; Bev Lyon for her key roll in producing the annual childrens Touch a Truck event at Poulsbo Village; Mary McCluskey, director or Poulsbos Parks and Recreations department for her roll in the growth and development of Poulsbos incredible parks system; and the Poulsbo Players for their efforts in providing a unique venue to performing arts in Poulsbo, the Jewel Box Theater.
