Peterson to run for County Clerk

Emphasizing his management background, leadership experience, and service in the office, Dave Peterson announced he will seek election this November to the Kitsap County Clerk position he now holds.

The Board of County Commissioners appointed Peterson to the Office of Kitsap County Clerk on October 1, 2001, after former Clerk Dean Logan resigned to take a position with the Washington Secretary of State’s Office.

Prior to his appointment, Peterson was an Elections Deputy in the Elections Division of the Auditor’s Office. He retired from Central Kitsap School District in 1998 after 33 years as a teacher, librarian, coordinator, and program administrator for technology and libraries. Peterson is a past president and charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Central Kitsap. His is a former long-time board member of both the United Way of Kitsap County and the Kitsap Regional Library Foundation Board. He served a one-year term as a citizen member of the Kitsap County Budget Advisory Committee. He is a member of the Kitsap League of Woman Voters, Lone Rock Community Club, and the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce. Peterson is serving his fourth year on the Central Kitsap Community Council – the first two years as its initial President. He also serves on the boards of the Dispute Resolution Center of Kitsap County (DRC), Kitsap Legal Services (KLS), and Special Assault Investigations and Victims’ Services (S.A.I.V.S.). Peterson is an active member of the Central Kitsap Citizens for Quality Education, and a long-time member of numerous Central Kitsap School District technology, budget, levy, and bond committees.

Peterson has been a active Democrat and campaign worker in Kitsap County since 1972. He is a former Kitsap County Democratic Chair and presently serves as Democratic State Committeeman for Kitsap County.
