“Handy Dandy” at Jewel Box

The Jewel Box Theatre in Poulsbo is presenting “Handy Dandy,” a comedy by William Gibson.

It’s a “comedy but…,” that is alternately funny and touching. The play follows the unlikely friendship that develops between Henry Pulaski, a conservative judge, and Molly Egan, a feisty, salty tongued peace activist nun, as she is hauled into his courtroom again and again for picketing a local arms research factory. Molly, who had three husbands and two abortions before becoming a nun; and Henry, widowed and alienated from his only son, gradually begin to hear each other out on a personal, not just confrontational level.

The play runs Friday and Saturdays at 8 p.m., May 3, 4, 10 and 11. The Jewel Box Theatre is located a 225 Iverson, Poulsbo. Tickets run between $10 and $12 and can be purchased at Liberty Bay Books, Poulsbo and Kitsap Mall Information Desk.
