The City of Bremerton has announced the hiring of Michael Mecham to fill the position of City Engineer at the Department of Public Works and Utilities, Engineering Division. Mecham assumed the post May 1.
Mecham graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Civil Engineering and has worked for the US Forest Service, The US Soil Conservation Service, The City of Salem, Oregon and left the City of Logan, Utah where he served as City Engineer/Assistant Public Works Director to assume the position with the City of Bremerton.
As City Engineer, Mecham will help the City streamline the technical aspects of multiple Public Works and Utilities projects. He is responsible for managing a budget of $27.2 million and revenues of $9.5 million. He heads general engineering operations; oversees the planning, development and construction of municipal engineering projects including field surveys, financing, drawings and specifications, and inspection and construction management, and reviews of developer-originated right of way and utility improvements. His division includes a full-time staff of 24. |
