Attebery named to head Port of Bremerton

In a unanimous decision that was basically a “no-brainer,” Bremerton Port Commissioners Cheryl Kincer, Bill Mahan and Mary Ann Huntington, announced that Ken Attebery has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Port.

Attebery brings the strength of 18 years of varied port management and related experience to the position. He has served the Port of Bremerton since 1983, most recently as deputy executive director under the recently retired Dick Brandenberg. In his time with the Port, assets have grown from $11,000,000 to nearly $37,000,000 He is also responsible for obtaining numerous grants over the years that enabled the Port to move ahead on projects that include the construction of the Bremerton Marina, expansion of the Port Orchard Marina, construction of numerous water access improvements throughout the district, expansion of the Port’s waste-water plant, preparation of business park sites, numerous airport improvements, and a wide variety of economic development initiatives.

Prior to joining the Port, Attebery served as planning director for the City of Bremerton, and was involved in all aspects of long range planning and development and environmental permitting. He also served as an officer in US Army Corps of Engineers before entering the field of municipal and port development.
