The Arts –
Off The Map continues, Unidentified
Flying Object on the horizon

Off the Map, the quirky comedy by brilliant young playwright Joan Ackermann continues its run at Poulsbo’s intimate Jewel Box Theatre on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. through March 16.

Off the Map, which won rave reviews in its Off Broadway debut, is the story of young Bo Groden and her family living in the wilds of northern New Mexico, living off the land and items rescued from the town dump. Bo dreams of escape and the wider world, which unexpectantly arrives in the form of an IRS agent, who has come to find out why the family has never filed a return and who manages to change all of their lives — including his own.

Off the Map is followed by a special event at the Jewel Box. Anthony Curry, multi-talented playwright, director and actor brings his Seattle hit Unidentified Flying Object to Poulsbo for two performances only — Friday, March 22, and Saturday March 23, at 8 p.m.

Unidentified Flying Object is the surprisingly funny and often poignant true story of Tony’s first four years with his autistic son, Adam, as Tony, somewhat unbalanced himself, tries to navigate a steady stream of neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists and pediatricians, all giving wildly conflicting advice.

Tickets for both shows are available at Liberty Bay Books in Poulsbo and the Kitsap Mall information desk in Silverdale. For more information or to make reservations call (360) 779-6946 or (360) 779-9688.
