Alderbrook Resort announces
management changes

Alderbrook resort on Hood Canal in Mason County recently announced that Gary Oliver has been named as director of sales and marketing. Oliver has more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry and will be responsible for the coordination of all revenue generating departments as well as marketing and promotional operations at the resort hotel.

Most recently he was director of sales for the Bend Visitor and Convention Bureau in Bend, Ore. He also brings experience to Alderbrook as the director of sales and marketing at The Inn of the Seventh Mountain, sales manager at Sunriver Resort, director of sales and marketing at the Aspen Club Lodge and Properties, product development manager at GEO Leisure Inc., general manager at The Hotel Aspen and has also worked at Snowmass in Colorado and Kaanapali Alii in Maui.

Alderbrook also named Christian Wade director of food and beverage, Shaun Tucker assistant food and beverage manager, and Joseph Treacy Kreger as executive chef at the famed Alderbrook restaurant.

Wade brings more than nine years of experience to the position of food and beverage director. He has worked at Italianissimo in Woodinville, Café Allegro in Kansas City, and Kivan Han and McCrady’s, both in South Carolina. Wade is a native of Houston, Tex. and has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston.

Tucker, a native of Bellingham, has over 12 years of experience and has worked at the Bellevue Club Hotel, the Willows Lodge, and the Resort Semi-ah-moo, all in Washington, and the Royal Palms Hotel and Casitas in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Kreger was named executive chef in December of last year and has more than 20 years of experience. Previously, he worked at The Lobster Shop in Tacoma, The Sorrento Hotel in Seattle, and La Petite Maison in Olympia. He has a degree from the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont, and is a native of Washington.

Alderbrook is located on the south shore of the Hood Canal and features 96 rooms including hotel rooms, and cottages, a marina, indoor pool, restaurant, lounge, and access to golf. It features 11 meeting rooms totaling more than 10,000 square feet. All rooms are equipped with audio visual equipment, telephone hook-up and white boards. Many of the guest rooms offer a private deck as well as views of Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains.

Recreational activities include a ropes course for team-building events, tennis, volleyball, horse shoe area and a children’s play area as well as the use of a barbeque and picnic tables. The property also offers rental equipment, outdoor beach area, swimming and a 1,200-foot dock with moorage. Guests also have access to the glass enclosed pool and Jacuzzi with water and mountain views.

Alderbrook, which was recently sold by CRISTA Ministries who operated the resort for several years, now offers the “Meetings Express Package” for groups of 20 or more.
