Northwest College of Art (NCA) announced recently that more new faculty and staff members have joined the growing art school.
Chuck Gamble, who has been working in the animation industry for over 10 years and is now teaching his techniques at the Poulsbo school. He holds a BA degree with a psychology minor, and an MFA in computer graphics and animation. Most recently he was the creative director at Headbone Interactive, leading the companys web design efforts and creating animated TV programming for kids, such as the award winning series D-Tour for the Discovery Channel.
Gamble has received numerous other awards, including recognition from the Human Rights Watch organization for his short animated film, Shadow Puppets, which he wrote, directed and animated. He also brings several years of experience to NCA teaching all age groups and the hearing impaired.
Todd Hollow-Bist, M.Ed. is NCAs new self-awareness and psychology instructor. Art has consistently played an important role in his work, which includes teaching at the University of Washington, Seattle Public Schools, and the Beneroya Hall Educational Center. He has worked as a psychology and art teacher for gifted at risk adolescents; has written and published several articles and proposals, and maintains his own private practice as a therapist, consultant and teacher.
Jane A. Bedinger brings much sophisticated knowledge in the world of multimedia to NCA. She will be teaching several web-based classes starting in January when the schools Multi-Media Program commences. She also oversees the advanced design classes. Bedinger has taught continuing education classes at Bellevue Community College and is a published, freelance writer. She also owns InfoAnalyst, a firm that specializes in doing research and marketing analysis for clients such as Adobe and Boeing.
Denise Weir will also be joining NCA in January to teach classes in advanced figure drawing. A recognized, award-winning graphic designer and illustrator, her professional experience includes working at several prestigious Seattle-based design companies as well as owning her own design company with a client list that includes Wizards of the Coast, Bumbershoot Publishing, Holland America/Windstar Cruises, Air Touch and the Seattle Symphony Learning Center. In addition, Weir brings ten years experience as a faculty member of Cornish College of the Arts, where she was an instrumental member of the Design Department and its development to NCA.
On the administrative side of the schools ledger, Sherry Fadely is the new NCA Placement Representative. Prior to joining NCA, Fadely spent many years in the film industry as a co-producer of feature films at a Warner Bros. based production company and subsequently as a production executive for HBO Pictures. Fadely came to the Northwest after meeting her husband, a Bainbridge Island native, while working on the Free Willy trilogy.
Lisa Fryling has been named as the schools new administrative assistant. A recent graduate of Eastern Oregon University, she holds a B.S. in Health & Physical Education. She brings over five years experience in the financial aid office at Olympic College to NCA.
David Bowman has joined the Admissions Department as a field representative for the school. Primarily meeting with Washington State high school students and teachers, Bowman has an extensive background in communications and sales. Prior to joining NCA, Bowman worked in information packaging and design, consulting with Fortune 500 companies. |
