Ye Olde Copper Kettle adds gift shop

With the opening of their new gifts and goods shop right next door to their current location, Poulsbo’s Ye Olde Copper Kettle is expanding the availability of British and Irish goods in North Kitsap.

Owners Karen and Peter duPre removed a section of wall separating the two shops to add the retail shop adjacent to the tea room.

“There are few enough places to get a proper cup of tea,” said the duPres, “and fewer places still where Anglophiles, as well as English, Irish and Scottish expats can purchase the comfort foods, gourmet goodies and other missed items from their homelands. Our customers have been asking us to order their specialty items for some time and although we have always had a small retail corner, the expansion will allow us to fulfill those needs.”

According to the duPres, there is no where else in Kitsap or on the Olympic Peninsula that offers the selection of imported teas and British goods the shop already features.

“We already stock over 25 different teas, plus a selection of imported candies, cookies and grocery items such as British bangers,” said Peter duPre. “Adding a shop next door will allow us room to stock over 50 different varieties of tea, a full selection of English and Irish sweets, plus add an impressive array of imported comfort foods that expats miss. We recently started stocking vintage Irish cheddar and English double Gloucester cheeses. Soon we will be adding English Stilton, Cheshire and Caerphilly cheeses, and increase our stock of hard to find grocery items such as salad creme, Heinz beans, Bovril and Marmite.”

“In addition, we are adding a line of Brown Betty and Pristine tea pots, plus a selection of china mugs, unique gifts and even special holiday items such as plum puddings and Christmas crackers,” said Karen duPre. “In the spring, we plan to expand the line of imported items to include specialty gifts from the British Isles and Ireland,” with the addition of imported woolens, flasks, flat caps, china, books and music.”

“Poulsbo is already known as a great place to by imported Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Dutch goodies,” added Peter duPre. “With the expansion of the our business, Little Norway will also be known for its selection of British and Irish foods —plus a great place to get a proper cup of tea.”
