Green Works recognizes Wet Apple

Wet Apple Publishing, the company that publishes the Kitsap Business Journal, was recently recognized by Kitsap County’s Green Works program for its environmental efforts.

The Green Works program provides technical assistance and recognition to businesses that want to improve their environmental performance.

Wet Apple began working with the Green Works program last year to implement changes in the company’s operations that benefit both it and local companies that use the Kitsap Business Journal for news and information to help improve its bottom line.

A new, regularly featured environmental section offers articles and display ads that promote environmental responsibility. These provide an easy way for local businesses to access information about preventing waste and using resources wisely.

Publisher Lary Coppola and the Business Journal staff have worked to increase the company’s efforts to close the recycling loop. Although Wet Apple’s waste prevention efforts result in purchasing a minimal amount of office supplies, they have increased their use of products made with recycled materials. Coppola has also helped promote waste prevention at civic organizations, and is incorporating environmental public service announcements as filler in the publication whenever possible.

Any business is eligible to apply for technical assistance from the Green Works program. For more information, contact Green Works at (360) 337-4678 or greenworks@co.kitsap.wa.us.
