The Kitsap County Tree-Cycle Program, which has become a local tradition, began on Dec. 26 and will run through Jan, 14 at the drop box facilities listed below, during their regular business hours.
Last year nearly 3,500 holiday trees were brought in by residents, and chipped for use as mulch in a variety of landscape projects. Residents are reminded to remove all nails, tinsel, lights and ornaments before bringing their tree in. Flocked trees can be potentially harmful to the environment and cannot be chipped.
County chipping crews will drop off chips at accessible residents near the chipping locations as long as quantities last. To get on the free chips list, call (360) 337-5777 or (800) 825-4940.
