December at Poulsbos Verksted Gallery will keep with its 14 years of tradition as all 37 of the local artists and craftsmen stock the shelves, windows and walls with new and exciting works as well as the old favorites. Adding to the holiday season are hand crafted, one-of-a-kind Christmas ornaments.
A special donation will also be made to a New York artist who has lost studio and artwork as a result of September 11.
December will also see the work of a trio of artists featured.
Leon Cotey has both a talent for finding beautiful woods, and a knack for creating the perfect object with it. From exquisite pens some even crafted from scotch broom which surprises everyone who sees this beautiful wood, to unique stainless steel wine corks with bottle openers enclosed in the caps, the gallery is filled to the brim with wonderful items for holiday gift giving.
Karen Lyman is an artist with a flair for bears. Her soft sculptures, shaped into snowmen and wonderful wall hangings, are very popular during the holidays. Her beautifully crafted stuffed animals have special personal touches included with each design. Lyman is also a colored pencil artist and is known at the gallery for her delicate ink sketches which are often found on unique antler pieces.
Natures Palette is the name given to the art of Wilhelmina Moses who has been drawing since childhood, and in the last 10 years has enjoyed working in pastels. Raised in the Netherlands, tending a garden was always a way of life, and her love of flowers and artists eye have brought the two together in her unique wall art which incorporates pressed flowers with pastel drawings set into beautiful and unusual frames. |
