Drzewiecki, Spear join Literacy Council

Port Orchard resident Paul Drzewiecki and LeAnna Spear of Lake Tahuyeh have joined the staff of the Literacy Council of Kitsap.

Drzewiecki will serve as the new executive director, replacing Helen Robinson; Spear replaces Marilyn Moore as the GED instructor. Robinson. Moore retired in September.
Drzewiecki brings extensive experience in education and program management to the group. He served most recently as the Olympic College site manager for Virginia-based Old Dominion University and has administered student services at universities in Washington, Montana, Arizona, Pennsylvania and Ohio. He has also worked with disadvantaged populations including welfare clients and displaced homemakers.

Spear, who was a volunteer tutor with the Literacy Council a decade ago, is an experienced teacher who has worked mostly in South America, including Venezuela, Columbia, Chile and Peru. She taught English, set up learning centers and worked with learning-disabled children and adults.
