In honor of America Recycles Day, which is Nov. 15, The Kitsap County GreenWorks program presents the following facts about recycling:
Every ton of recycled paper saves up to:
3 cubic yards of landfill space
4,200 kilowatt hours of electricity (64 percent savings)
7,000 gallons of water (61 percent savings)
75 percent of bleach
60 pounds of air pollutants
17 trees (trees vary in size)

Each year, the United States consumes 90 million tons of paper. The typical US office worker uses 10,000 sheets of paper each year.
