Facts about recycling...
In honor of America Recycles Day, which is Nov. 15, The Kitsap County GreenWorks program presents the following facts about recycling:

Every ton of recycled paper saves up to:
• 3 cubic yards of landfill space
• 4,200 kilowatt hours of electricity (64 percent savings)
• 7,000 gallons of water (61 percent savings)
• 75 percent of bleach
• 60 pounds of air pollutants
• 17 trees (trees vary in size)

• Each year, the United States consumes 90 million tons of paper. The typical US office worker uses 10,000 sheets of paper each year.

• 90 percent of all magazines are discarded within a year, yet less than 20 percent are recycled.

• Buy recycled products to minimize the impact on our resources.
• Don’t forget to take your cloth bag to the grocery store.
• Two sides are better than one! Print on both sides.
• To duplex is not complex. Print on both sides.
• Buy in bulk to minimize trash.
• Condense fax cover sheets to a half page, or better yet, use a fax stickie.
