Powder Hill firms rally to support United Way

Five businesses at Poulsbo’s Powder Hill business complex kicked off their United Way campaign on September 7, with a complex-wide barbecue.

This approach, running concurrent United Way campaigns at a single business complex, is a brand-new strategy.

Herb Myers, President and CEO of Boxlight Corporation, helped launch this idea with other businesses located on Powder Hill. Participating businesses include Boxlight, Activelight, General Construction, Olympic Resource Management and Paladin Data Systems.

“We see this approach as a more effective and efficient way to run a United Way campaign,” says Barbara Stephenson, Executive Director at United Way of Kitsap County. “By running concurrent campaigns at neighboring businesses, we are building a sense of ‘community’ among the businesses and building greater momentum for their campaigns. They’ll be challenging each other and having a lot of fun, while doing something very important for the Kitsap community.”

United Way hopes to raise over $40,000 through the Powder Hill campaign. For more information, call (360) 377-8505.
