The Olympic Chapter of the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association (WSNLA) recently announced that Aaron Claiborne and Kristen Oas were recently awarded scholarships in the amounts of $1000 and $500, respectively.

Claiborne is a student at WSU majoring in Environmental Science and a former Bainbridge Gardens employee.

Oas is a 2001 North Kitsap High School graduate and the 2000-2001 Miss Viking Fest. She will be studying Agricultural Science at Olympic College starting in the Fall, and will transfer to WSU to major in Agricultural Communications. She is also the current Kitsap County Rodeo Queen.

The WSNLA annual scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who are accepted into a college program and/or college level students studying horticulture or related topics that also live in the Olympic Chapter district which includes Kitsap, Mason, Jefferson, and Clallam counties.
