A 40-hour mediation training is being offered in Poulsbo by the Dispute Resolute Center (DRC). Participants will learn skills to become neutral, third-party facilitators to help others resolve disputes.
Course topics include conflict theory and management, communication, and negotiation. Participants will practice individual coaching and mock mediations.
Greg Abell and Ann McBroom will provide the training. Abell is founder of the DRC and Sound Options, and has been a professional mediator for nearly 15 years. McBroom joined Sound Options with 12 years experience as a mediator for the King County Dispute Resolution Center.
Training takes place Oct. 19, 20, and 21 and Oct. 27 and 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Cost is $590 for registrations received before Oct. 1 and $635 for those later; groups of three or more receive a 20 percent discount.
