Sidney Gallery announces winners

The Sidney Art Gallery in Port Orchard recently announcing the winners of its Woman Painters of Washington’s membership competition. Over 60 professional artists competed in this all female group for the 18 separate awards. Well known Belfair artist and Bremerton gallery owner Amy Burnett was the juror.

The winners are: Northwest Watercolor Society Award: Jeanne Davis for “Wenatchee River Bend;” Jule Kullberg Memorial Award: Cheryl Leslie Smith for “Three;” Mercer Island Arts League Award: Pia Messina for “Dreaming of a Song;” Eastside Fine Arts Assoc. Award: Barbara Nickerson for “Phantom Spring;” Olympic Arts Assoc., Larry Howe Memorial Award: Edith Weinstein for “Buffoonery;” West Seattle Art Club, Katherine Baker Memorial Award: Marilyn Bergstrom for “Boldly Hued;” Puget Sound Sumi Award: Jane Kippenhan for “Slice of the Orient;” Bellevue Art and Frame Award: Pat Meras for “Morning Light on Horseshoe Lake;” Northwest Pastel Society Award: Randena Walsh for “First Snow;” Utrecht Art Supply Award: Diane McClary for “Ponderosa Pine;” Artist & Craftsman Supply Award: Ann Breckon for “Summertime;” Artists’ Edge Award: Phyllis Oliver for “Symphony in Gold;” Don Charles Award: Barbara Benedetti Newton for “Prelude;” Michi Osaka Merit Award in Fine Art: Gretchen Griep for “A Rose is a Rose;” Seattle Art Supply Award: Suzy Kueckelhan for “A Tall Wind;”Four separate Daniel Smith Awards to: Louise Rice for “Tranquility;” Francine Porad for “Rapids;” Jacqueline Van Noy for “Sing Over Me;” Deidre Tucker for “At Red Rock Crossing.”.
