Bainbridge Island Arts Walk set for Nov. 4

Holiday Island Magic is the theme of the quarterly Arts Walk on Bainbridge Island, which will present a magical pre-holiday celebration of art event for its 2001 season finale. The event will include sparkling, glittering, magical and colorful art, including children’s artwork. Both visual and performing art will be on hand, including over 40 regional artists displaying their work in downtown Winslow shops.

Some of the featured exhibits and entertainment include:
Visual Art Exhibits:
• At Bainbridge Arts & Crafts: The Asian Influence, an exhibit
• At The Berry Patch: Gayle Bair. Functional stoneware & porcelain works of art
• At Bistro Pleasant Beach: Ray Styles, Pastels
• At Blue Door Gallery (inside Winslow Drugstore): Jan Herren Watercolors — ferries, NW and foreign travel scenes
• At Esther’s Fabrics: A Collection of Christmas heirlooms
• At Exotic Aquatics, Underwater photography exhibit, featuring local artists and photos from the Puget Sound
• At Gallery of the Peoples: Harold Jackson Alfred, Northwest coast copper engravings
• At Harbour Public House: Chris Cannestra, Oil on board
• At Julie’s Lynwood Frame Gallery: Dale Cox, Oil paintings
• At Magnolia’s on Madison: Diana Buckles, Jewelry
• At Paper Products Etc.: Marilyn Mandala, Earth spirits in clay sculpture, and acrylic paintings; Cynthia Baron, Polymer clay, dolls and theater figures
• At Pegasus Coffee House & Gallery: Gladys Schulz & Debra Gillis Contemporary quilts, wall hangings & table mats
• At Rainshadow Gallery: Barbara Gannis, Gold & silver jewelry
• At Roby King Galleries: Cheri Christensen and Pam Ingalls-Cox, exhibit: “Chicken & the Egg.” Russian Impressionist oil paintings
• At The Traveler: Terri Dixon, Photography — faces and places of Italy
• At Winslow Hardware & Mercantile: Joel Sackett, Photography exhibit: Interior views expressing our cultural diversity

Special Event & Entertainment:
• The unique magic of Kirk Charles, Noon to 2 p.m. starting at the Winslow Mall then re-appearing among the shops along Winslow Way
• The Pavilion: Children’s Art Contest Winners Exhibit, Noon to 5 p.m. — A display of the results of the Bainbridge Island art contest and open children’s art contest, with honorable mentions and special categories
• Caricature exhibit: Name that face! Winslow Mall, Noon to 5 p.m. — This special show features caricatures of local people, famous or not, and you can see if you know who they are. Local artist Cheri Ziebart displays her work, and will be on hand to create children’s caricatures just for you!
• Side by Side, 1 to 2 p.m. starting at Winslow Mall, then wandering along Winslow Way, this group of local singers performs everyone’s favorites
• Family Storytime with the Mayor and Staff, City Hall, 1 to 2:30 p.m. — A storytelling program of short stories, classics, and holiday favorites for children and adults
• Renaissance Jazz, Winslow Mall, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. — This popular local jazz ensemble will sing a variety of Island favorites
• Family Storytime with Peggy Hughes, Bainbridge Public Library, 3 to 4 p.m. — A program of stories, music and activities for children and adults
• Hammer Dulcimer Performance, Simon Chrisman, Churchmouse Yarns & Teas, Noon to 1:30 p.m. — Simon puts his own twist on Irish/American folk songs
• “Homespun” at the Playhouse Lobby 1-4 p.m. — This exhibit features artworks by local Bainbridge Island artists Ellen Wixted, Carol D’Iverno, Pamela Dharamsey Lee, Tom Fehsenfeld, Debbi Lester, Tia Matthies, Heidi Umphenour, Marc Bjorklund.
• Artists’ Reception: 1-4 p.m.

   As you visit the stops along the Arts Walk, search for answers as you play the popular Arts Walk ‘n Win game card for fun and prizes. Pick up a game card during the event at any participating Arts Walk merchant.
