WHAM to open designer paint store
on Bainbridge Island

The new building for Winslow Paint Company is under construction at High School Road and Highway 305.
It’s known for having one of the savviest gift shops, most comprehensive hardware departments, and some of the best customer service on Bainbridge Island. This fall, after several years of watching their paint business skyrocket, Winslow Hardware & Mercantile (WHAM) will open a second store, Winslow Paint Company.
The husband and wife team of Ken Schuricht and Mary Hall will now be overseeing their own respective stores. Schuricht, who is well known for his knowledge of do-it-yourself projects, will remain at WHAM. Hall, who already spends most of her time assisting customers select paint color and mixing paint, will head up the road with business partner Joan Marsden to Winslow Paint Company.
Working with interior and exterior paint is a true passion for Hall who will fulfill a longtime dream by opening a separate paint store.
The pieces of the dream began falling into place when she and Schuricht learned they would become Bainbridge Island’s exclusive Benjamin Moore retailer after months of discussions. Benjamin Moore is recognized as one of the best paints in the world. Coupled with the availability of a new retail space near the intersection of Highway 305 and High School Road, it all came together.
Hall and Marsden are busy planning the store’s opening this fall which will feature Benjamin Moore paints; Devine Color paints, which is a line of high-end, architectural/designer quality paints; Cabot exterior stains; metallic paints; home furnishings; Meridia custom carpets; an on-site professional color consultant; contractor sales; color and design classes as well as display windows featuring rotating design schemes from local interiors professionals.
